FAQs

Ask Us Anything. These Came First.

Every question below comes from a real call or text. If yours is not here, the phone works seven days a week.

Does the pickup cost anything?+

No. Media pickup is a free service, and we never charge to take your books, DVDs, or CDs. We come to you, we do the loading, and you pay nothing. Some collections actually work the other way around, where we pay you, depending on condition and demand.

What types of items do you take?+

Books, DVDs, Blu-rays, and CDs are our focus. VHS tapes and other formats can come along when they ride on top of the big three. Every collection is different, so we review what you have and explain your options before anything moves forward.

How far will you travel?+

Erie is home base, not a boundary. Media pickups run about 100 miles in every direction, which covers northwest Pennsylvania, western New York, and northeast Ohio. For the right collection we have gone farther, so ask either way. Whole house cleanouts and estate sales with our partners stay within about 30 miles of Erie.

Can I get paid for my books and media?+

Sometimes, yes. Payment depends on condition and demand. Hardcover nonfiction, complete box sets, newer releases, and clean discs in original cases are the most likely earners. We review in person or from photos and tell you straight what qualifies and what does not.

What condition do items need to be in?+

For a standard pickup, items should be free of heavy damage. No waterlogged books, and discs in their original cases. Smoke-free homes are preferred. If your media is wrecked or at the end of its life, mention it anyway. Damaged media can leave with a whole house cleanout, handled by our trusted partner.

Do you take any genre?+

Almost all of them, fiction and nonfiction alike. The exceptions are magazines, encyclopedias, burned discs, and counterfeit items.

Is there a minimum or maximum size?+

No. A few boxes or a few rooms, both are welcome. Large collections are honestly our favorite calls.

How does pickup actually work?+

You reach out with photos or a description. We reply with your options, usually within a few hours. If it is a fit, we schedule a time that works for you, seven days a week, morning through evening. Same-day pickup is sometimes possible depending on location and volume.

Do I need to sort or box everything first?+

No. Keeping things in one general area helps, but we do the boxing, carrying, and loading. You do not need to organize a thing.

Can the pickup be contactless?+

Yes. Leave the items on a porch or in a garage and we will review everything on site and follow up with you directly. Plenty of our pickups happen without a doorbell ring.

What happens to everything after pickup?+

Usable items are kept in circulation and handled responsibly. Whatever fits is donated to libraries and donation centers around Erie, and we run library donation drives throughout the year on top of that.

What about a whole house, not just media?+

We coordinate that too. Our cleanout partner handles full house cleanouts from attic to basement within about 30 miles of Erie, with damaged and end-of-life media going out along with everything else. Our estate sale partners can run a sale first when the contents deserve one. One call covers all of it.
